MARGARETA   SARRI

Startsida B. 10 Dec. 1944, Stockholm Sweden. Educ: B.A. Stockholm Univ. 1983, Univ. Diploma in Folk High School Educ. 1995.

First of all I am a writer. Somtetimes a teacher. Often a story teller. Also I do readings wherever there is an audiance.

I live in a very small town waiting for the alteration but still wondering into what. I left my heart in the big city - and later on in a waste village far above the Artic Circle. I used to live there for years under the norhern light and the midnight sun that never sets, in the cross draught of three clashing cultures.

Some of my books take place right there, e.g.:
WHEN SIMON FJÄLLBORG AMONG WITH OTHERS ARRIVED AT THE TRUTH = Då Simon Fjällborg med flera kom till insikt, 1971
UNDER THE RASBERRY TREE = Under hallonträdet, 1980
THOU MOUNTAIN HIGH NORTH = Du fjällhöga Nord, 1981.

During the radical seventies I became the mother of three children and simultaneously flourished lika a feministic flower in the garden of wilderness:
SLAVE TRADE = Ta dej en slav, 1975.

Properly I am a novelist but I am also very fond of writing short stories:
THE SWEET PAIN OF YEARNING = Längtans ljuva plåga, 1998.

Thus far I have written 17 books. My own favourite is
THE PORTRAIT OF AUGUST = Porträttet av August, 1997.
The true story of an artist who loves painting more than life itself. An excerpt from this book has been translated into for example Engligh,German, Italian, Russian.

A rather special book is
WELCOME TO SHITTOWN, 2006
(about the Sami population in nothern Russia) together with the photographer Andreas Sarri.
